Help and Support

INSTALLATION

Most vehicles can be fitted with a Sargent EC680 tracking system. This includes motorhomes, campervans, vans, cars, caravans and similar vehicles. Some manufacturers may preinstall a unit ready for activation at a later date. Tracking systems must be installed by trained and approved installers. Please contact Sargent sales if you wish to have a tracking system installed.

THE WEBSITE

The tracking system is managed by the Sargent Tracking website, which works like an app when accessed from your mobile phone. Please see the site user guide / video for help with creating an account and exploring the many features.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

In motor vehicles, the tracking system is Thatcham S5 approved, and uses ID tags to identify authorised drivers. Two tags are provided with each system, and extra tags can be added. The system offers a number of features, and these depend on the type of subscription purchased.

In caravans, or trailers the tracking system is Thatcham (Advanced) S7 approved, but still uses ID tags to identify authorised drivers. Two tags are provided with each system, and extra tags can be added. The system offers a number of features, and these depend on the type of subscription purchased.

WHAT ARE THE SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS?

Subscriptions can be purchased for 1, 2 or 3 years. Standard subscriptions can be upgraded to Tracking subscriptions if required. Save 10% when purchasing 2 years and 20% when purchasing 3 years.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE PURCHASE

After purchasing a tracking subscription you have 14 days to change your mind and request a full refund. Following this 14 day period we are not able to provide a full refund, but we may be able to offer a partial refund. Please contact us quickly if you need a refund.

If a tracking subscription is cancelled during the subscription period any remaining time will be lost. If you sell your vehicle it is not possible to transfer the subscription to the new owner; the subscription must be cancelled and a new one purchased if required.

If you purchase a new vehicle and have a new tracking system installed, or transferred from your old vehicle, we can in most cases transfer the subscription to your new vehicle. Please contact us quickly if you need to transfer a subscription.

HOW DO I OPERATE THE TRACKING SYSTEM?

The EC680 tracking system is easy to operate as it is controlled by the vehicle's ignition in conjunction with driver ID tags. Before turning the ignition on, please ensure a tag is present within the vehicle. For caravans there may also be a nominated location for the tag and a suitable hook is provided for this.

For added security when your ID tag is away from the vehicle a 'signal blocking' pouch is provided. When the tag is inside of the pouch the tag is effectively disabled and will not work.

Where the driver ID tag is attached to the vehicle key(s), theft of the vehicle with the key(s) will not send a theft alert to the monitoring station. Please check your insurance Terms and Conditions in order to ensure you have insurance cover if the vehicle is stolen by these means. In this scenario, it is your responsibility to report the theft to the monitoring station. You may wish to keep the driver ID tag and your vehicle key(s) separate.

HOW DOES THE TRACKING WORK?

If the vehicle is moved whilst the tracker is armed the geofence and movement monitoring will trigger a theft event.

If you have a tracking subscription, the monitoring station will now contact you to confirm the theft or false alarm. You will be required to confirm your identity against the information you provided when you subscribed. If a genuine theft is confirmed the monitoring station will liaise with the police and keep you informed of progress.

HOW DO I REPORT A THEFT?

In an emergency theft situation please contact the tracking monitoring station on 0345 6027302. The station operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Before contacting them please ensure you know your vehicle tracker detail, which can be viewed in the app (Tracker / Info / Tracker Details page).

WHAT IF I LOSE AN ID TAG?

If you lose a driver ID tag, please contact the Sargent Support team who will guide you through the ID tag deactivation and replacement process. Their contact details are further below. If you lost your vehicle key(s) with the tag attached, you may need to contact the vehicle manufacturer to arrange key & lock replacement.

PRECAUTIONS AND SERVICING

The tracking system monitors the battery supply and if the voltage falls below a set level or the battery is removed this will trigger a fault alert. If you plan to remove your battery for maintenance or external charging please use the app (Tracker / Info / Remote Actions / Set Service Mode) to place the system in service mode BEFORE removing the battery.

If you plan to use a ferry, and have the tracker armed, please use the app (Tracker / Info / Remote Actions / Set Transport Mode) to place the system in transport mode BEFORE the ferry journey.

The driver ID tags contain a user replaceable battery, which depending on use, requires changing every 12 to 18 months. The battery is a CR2032 lithium cell. Instructions on how to change the battery are included in the User Guide.

The tracking unit contains a rechargeable backup battery which is designed to last over 5 years. It is recommended that this battery is replaced in the 6th year.

WINTER STORAGE

For leisure vehicles that are placed in storage, here are our recommendations for the system settings and leisure battery connection. For special installations, please follow the advice provided by the installer.

If you have a tracking subscription it is important to keep a charged vehicle and / or leisure battery connected at all times.

For motorhomes with Sargent control equipment, it is recommended to turn the power supply unit (PSU) off and leave the vehicle battery connected. The tracking unit will monitor the battery and let you know if it needs charging. If solar panels are fitted these will be used to keep the battery charged.

For caravans with Sargent control equipment, the leisure battery should be fitted and connected at all times, and the PSU should be turned off to save battery power. The tracking unit will monitor the leisure battery and let you know if it needs charging.

If you require temperature readings and remote control features, the PSU can be turned on, but you will need to monitor the batteries to determine if they need charging. If solar panels are fitted these will help keep the batteries charged.

We recommend that the leisure and vehicle batteries are fully charged using the built-in charger in the vehicle before placing the vehicle into storage. To charge the leisure battery, connect the vehicle to the 230V mains supply, turn the charger on at the PSU (green push button) and leave it to charge for 24 hours. To charge the vehicle battery select the vehicle battery at the control panel and then follow the same process.
